    Leh, October 03, 2026: Under the aegis of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Leh, in collaboration with the 13th Battalion National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), a Disaster Management and School Safety Training Programme commenced today at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Leh.
    Students and staff from Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Govt. Middle School, and officials of the Chief Education Office, Leh participated in the inaugural session. The programme commenced with a welcome address and lecture-demonstration by Inspector GD Vinod Kumar, accompanied by practical demonstrations by the NDRF team on basic first aid, soft tissue injury management, improvised stretcher-making, emergency floating rescue devices, and containment of LPG cylinder leakage and fires using wet blankets and buckets.
    Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commandant Mohd. Shafiq highlighted Ladakh’s high seismic vulnerability and briefed participants on the NDRF’s mandate, urging students and staff to adopt classroom safety protocols and avoid panic during disasters.
    The session was attended by SI GD Nopu Dorjee Bhutia and Principal Ms. Kunzang Dolma, who expressed gratitude to the NDRF team. The district-wide training campaign across educational institutions and government departments will continue until October 13, 2026.
