Dyeing Technique Upgradation Course Concludes in Nubra under RAMP Programme.
Leh, October 7: The Department of Industries & Commerce, UT Ladakh, in collaboration with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Srinagar, and Handicrafts & Handloom, Leh, successfully conducted and concluded a six-day Dyeing Technique Upgradation Course at Nubra from September 29 to October 4, 2026, under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India.
The training programme aimed to enhance the technical capacities of local artisans and strengthen the textile value chain of Ladakhi products. A significant number of women artisans participated and received practical exposure to improved natural and contemporary dyeing techniques, including tie-dye and resist-dyeing methods.
Participants received hands-on training in colour development and application, colour consistency, colour fastness, quality control and product finishing. The training focused on improving the quality, durability and aesthetic appeal of textile products in line with evolving market requirements.
During the concluding session, participating artisans showcased the fabrics and products developed during the course. Certificates were also awarded to the participants upon successful completion of the training.The training was conducted under the RAMP intervention “Enhancing the Textile Value Chain of Ladakhi Products (LA13)”, which seeks to strengthen the textile sector in Ladakh through targeted capacity building, skill upgradation and product development. The intervention includes focused initiatives in embroidery, advanced colouring and dyeing techniques, and development of improved, market-oriented textile products.
The initiative is expected to enhance the quality, sustainability, design innovation and market readiness of Ladakhi textile products while creating greater opportunities for artisans to access wider domestic and external markets. It will also contribute to strengthening livelihood opportunities and enhancing the income-generating potential of artisans through value addition and improved competitiveness of traditional textile products.
The Department of Industries & Commerce, UT Ladakh, stated that such interventions under the RAMP Programme are aimed at strengthening traditional and emerging MSME value chains through structured capacity building, technology and skill upgradation, product diversification and market-oriented interventions, with a focus on sustainable livelihoods and inclusive economic development.
