GDC Drass Organises Career Counselling Programme on Opportunities in the Development Sector.
29 October, Drass: The Career Counselling and Placement Cell of Government Degree College (GDC) Drass organised a career counselling programme to familiarise students with career opportunities in the development sector.
Mr. Chandrakant Jayshree Arunkumar from Azim Premji University was the resource person. In his presentation, he introduced students to career opportunities in non-governmental organisations (NGOs), community development, social research, public policy and social welfare. He explained the nature of work in these fields and highlighted the importance of practical experience, useful skills and an understanding of social issues in building a career in the sector.
The programme helped students understand the range of opportunities available in the development sector and encouraged them to consider careers that allow them to work with communities, address social challenges and contribute to society.
Dr. Javed Iqbal Naqi, Convener of the Career Counselling and Placement Cell, welcomed the resource person with a traditional Khatak. In his welcome address, he emphasised the importance of career counselling in helping students explore different career options, look beyond conventional career choices and make informed decisions about their future.
The programme was organised under the patronage of Mr. M. N. M. Shabani, Principal, GDC Drass, reflecting the college’s commitment to guiding students towards suitable career opportunities and preparing them for life beyond graduation.
