Secy Animal Husbandry convenes meeting with National Dairy Development Board
Leh, April ,09: A meeting was convened by Secretary, Animal/Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Department, Ravinder Kumar with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) at the Secretariat today.
There was a detailed discussion on the benchmark report for two districts of Leh and Kargil, exploring the possibility of collaboration with Mother Dairy for milk procurement operations and milk supply to the army. Also, there was a discussion on development marketing operations in the region and preparation of DPR for Kargil district.
Secretary, Ravinder informed that they have already completed the documentation process and will register the societies soon.
Talking about the sampling, the officials from NDDB informed that the sample was taken from 50 villages and is above 20%. Out of 78,000 litres of production estimation around 65% of production is from the Kargil district. Also, the officials from NDDB stressed for a dairy development initiative in Kargil as well. Secretary informed that the department is planning to have a dairy development initiative in Kargil also.
The officials from Animal Husbandry, Leh requested them to consider the seasonal variation in the production of milk as well. Also, requested them to address the issues related to health, feeding, area-specific mineral block so that milk production will increase. They also requested good quality minerals and cattle feed.
The meeting was attended by Director, Animal/Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Department; Animal Husbandry Officer Leh/Kargil and Deputy Registrar, Cooperative Department Leh and Kargil.
