Secy Social & Tribal Welfare visits Mahila Shakti Kendra, One-Stop Centre
Leh, April 20: Secretary, Social and Tribal Welfare, Padma Angmo, today visited the Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) and One Stop Centre (OSC) and interacted with the staff. She also visited the Anganwadi Centre at Leh.
She was informed that One Stop Centre has received 49 cases, out of which 21 cases have been solved and 28 cases are in process.
The staff of Mahila Shakti Kendra apprised Secretary Padma about the various awareness camps and activities organised by the department.
Women facing physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and economic abuse undergo rehabilitation at OSCs. The OSCs also facilitate immediate, emergency and non-emergency access to a range of services, including medical, legal, psychological and counselling support to women.
Mahila Shakti Kendra aims to empower women and make them self-dependent. It also aims to create an environment in which women realize their full potential, convergent support is being proposed for equal access to healthcare, quality education, career and vocational guidance, employment, health and safety, social security and digital literacy.
Mahila Shakti Kendra was set up in 2019 and the One-Stop Centre in 2018 in Leh while MSK and OSC was e-inaugurated by Hon’ble LG Ladakh, R K Mathur on International Women’s Day 2021.
