Acting CEC Kacho Feroz Reviews Muharram Preparedness in Kargil, Ensures Key Services at Major Congregation Sites.
Kargil, June 26, 2025 – In view of the upcoming holy month of Muharram, Acting Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Mohammad Feroz, today visited key religious institutions to assess the preparedness for the observance of the sacred days.
Kacho Feroz visited the premises of Jamiat-ul-Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil (JUAIK) and the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT), two of the largest socio-religious organisations in the district, to take stock of the arrangements being made for smooth conduct of Muharram-related activities, which draw significant public participation across Kargil.
During the visit, the Acting CEC conducted a comprehensive assessment of essential services including Drinking water supply, Electricity, Municipal sanitation, Street lighting, Health Camps and Public convenience facilities.
While interacting with the management of the respective organisations, Kacho Feroz emphasized the importance of seamless coordination between the district administration and religious institutions to ensure a respectful, peaceful, and well-managed environment for Muharram majlis and processions.
He issued clear directions to the concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply at all key congregation sites, particularly during night majalis and processions.
The EC directed to ensure adequate water supply, including deployment of water tankers where pipeline-based access is limited, installation and repair of streetlights and provision of bulbs in areas identified by the religious bodies as procession or congregation routes.
He also instructed for enhanced municipal support for sanitation and cleanliness before, during, and after events, especially around mosques, imambargahs, and public gathering spaces.
Kacho Feroz stated that Muharram is a time of deep spiritual reflection for the people of Kargil and underscored the administration’s commitment to ensuring that the solemnity of the occasion is maintained with dignity and full logistical support.
He further appealed to the public and religious bodies to coordinate closely with the line departments to communicate any additional requirements in a timely manner.
Senior officials from the district administration, Health, PHE, PDD, Food and Supplies, Municipal Committee, and other allied departments accompanied the Acting CEC during the inspection.
