ADC Kargil reviews arrangements for upcoming LG Ice Hockey Championship, 2026.
Kargil, January 06, 2026: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho chaired a review meeting to finalize the arrangements for the 5th Edition of LG Ice Hockey Championship, 2026.
The meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer, Superintending Engineer, PWD-Kargil, Executive Officer, MC-Kargil, Assistant Director, FCS&CA, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Executive Engineers, District Youth Service & Sports Officer and other District Officers representing the concerned Departments besides members of Ice Hockey Association in order to ensure smooth coordination for organizing the event the successfully.
During the meeting, it was informed that the LG Ice Hockey Championship will begin on 11 January while the final ceremony will take place on 16 January. The DYSSO informed about the various arrangements already put in place under the guidance of Joint Director, Youth Services & Sports.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner directed the Police Department to ensure strong security arrangements. He emphasized proper entry and exit management, frisking of spectators and effective barricading and instructed that strict security deployment be ensured.
The Medical Department was instructed to keep ambulances and all essential medical facilities ready throughout the tournament. Emphasizing cleanliness, the ADC directed the Municipal Committee to maintain proper sanitation and hygiene at and around the venue. The concerned departments were also asked to ensure proper lighting arrangements to allow matches to be conducted during evening hours while the Power Development Department (PDD) was directed to provide uninterrupted power supply.
The Tourism Department and other concerned agencies were directed to make adequate arrangements for boarding and lodging of players and officials.
He instructed the concerned officials to provide bus services as per requirement, install the public address system and ensure proper media coverage of the event.
Technical aspects of the ice rink were also discussed in the meeting. It was emphasized that the water level should be properly maintained, the ice surface should be in level and the thickness of ice should be maintained so that matches are conducted smoothly.
Additional Deputy Commissioner stressed on the importance of close inter-departmental coordination for the success of the tournament.
