ADDC held review meeting on Implementation of PM Vishwakarma Scheme.
Leh, July 22, 2025 – The Additional District Development Commissioner Leh, Sonam Nurboo (JKAS) chaired a review meeting to assess the implementation of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme in Leh district on July 22 at the Mini Conference Hall of the DC Office Leh.
During the meeting, a detail presentation on the PM Vishwakarma Scheme was delivered by PMU Vishwakarma representative, covering the following key aspects of the scheme which includes: Introduction to PM Vishwakarma Yojana, UT-wise overall status report across all traditional trades, Application status scenario in Leh, Verification stages and progress, Block-wise performance in Leh District, Trade-wise recommendations of artisans at Stage 3 (including at the MSMEDFO level), Special mention of traditional trades such as sculptor/stone carving, among others
He also highlighted that Ladakh currently ranks second among Union Territories in scheme implementation and is performing remarkably well. A total of 412 toolkits have been delivered to eligible artisans in the region. However, 28 applications are still pending at Stage 1 and 57 applications at Stage 2. He also notified about issues such as affidavit submission for loans and shortage of resource personnel in subdivisions.
ADDC Leh suggested Coordination with banking institutions to streamline the loan and affidavit process and Mobilization of Resource Persons from three training institutions – Government Polytechnic Leh, Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Leh, and Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) – to cover subdivisions lacking support staff. He further emphasized to ensure all registered Vishwakarma artisans to undergo the required training and that the district successfully achieves its allotted targets under the scheme.
The meeting was attended by General Manager, DIC Leh; Sub-Divisional Magistrates of Nubra, Durbuk, Nyoma, Kharu, Likir, ; District Panchayat Officer, Leh ; Assistant Director, Handicraft, Leh; Superintendent, Handloom and ITI, Leh; District Lead Manager, SBI; All Block Development Officers of Leh District; Representatives from PMU Vishwakarma.
