Kargil, 12 August 2026: The Additional Registrar, Cooperative Department, UT Ladakh, undertook a district-level inspection tour of Kargil and Drass today to review the functioning of various cooperative institutions, offices, and assets under the jurisdiction of the Assistant Registrar Cooperative Societies (ARC), Kargil and Drass.
During the visit, she inspected the Fruit Grower Cooperative Society, Kargil, including its office infrastructure and ongoing activities. A detailed review of the society’s functioning was carried out, and she interacted with the concerned officials to understand operational requirements, challenges, and areas needing improvement.
At Drass, the Additional Registrar visited the under-construction Super Bazar of ARC Drass and assessed the progress of the construction work. She also inspected the Fertilizer Godown, taking stock of its storage arrangements, distribution system, and overall functioning to ensure efficient service delivery to beneficiaries.
As part of the tour, interaction meetings were held with members and representatives of cooperative societies at both Kargil and Drass. The members highlighted various issues and grievances related to their societies. The Additional Registrar patiently heard their concerns and assured them that genuine issues would be taken up with the competent authorities for timely redressal.
She emphasized strengthening cooperative institutions, improving transparency, and ensuring effective utilization of cooperative assets for the benefit of members. She also directed officials to maintain proper records and work towards the sustainable development of the cooperative sector in the region.
Sh. Mukhtar Hussain, Accounts Officer, accompanied the Additional Registrar during the tour. Concerned officers and officials were also present and extended full cooperation during the inspection and interaction meetings.
