Kargil, February 2, 2026: Sh. Bhupesh Choudhary IAS, Administrative Secretary for Horticulture, Agriculture, Cooperative, SIDCO, and Transport, today convened a productive meeting with representatives from all Transporter Associations of Kargil. The meeting, held at 4:00 PM, aimed to address critical issues faced by the transport sector in the region.
Key attendees included Sh. Mohd Ali from the Truck Union, Gh Nabi from the Taxi Union, Fida Hussain from the Mini Bus Union, Mohd Yaseen from the Omni Taxi Union, and Khadim Hussain from the Pickup Union.
During the session, the unions collectively raised concerns regarding the interstate permits countersign issue. Secretary Choudhary assured the associations that this matter would be promptly taken up with the Jammu & Kashmir administration to secure reciprocal benefits before the upcoming season.
Discussions also focused on the challenges faced by J&K registered transport goods carriage vehicles affected by the formation of the Union Territory. It was decided that a new registration mark of UT Ladakh, along with the necessary permits, would be assigned to these vehicles.
Furthermore, issues such as Vehicle Location Tracking Devices (VLTD) and route permits for stage carriage and contract carriage were deliberated, leading to amicable solutions for all parties involved.
Secretary Choudhary encouraged transporters to leverage the “Early Bird” policy for electric commercial vehicles, highlighting its connection to the benefits offered by the Ladakh Scraping Policy.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with a shared commitment to fostering a more efficient and supportive transport ecosystem in Kargil.
