Kargil, February 02, 2026: Administrative Secretary, Social and Tribal Welfare, UT Ladakh, Shashaka Ala today chaired a review meeting at Conference Hall NIC Kargil to assess the physical and financial status of works under the State Development Programme (SDP) and other social welfare sectors in Kargil district.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Director Social Welfare, Ladakh, District Social Welfare Officer, Kargil, besides concerned departmental officers and officials.
During the meeting, the Administrative Secretary reviewed the implementation status of various schemes under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), including Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships, Mission Vatsalya, Mission Shakti, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, and other ongoing social welfare initiatives.
She laid special emphasis on skill-based training programmes aimed at empowering beneficiaries and directed the Director Social Welfare to establish a marketing centre in Kargil to provide market linkage and support for products developed through such training initiatives.
The Administrative Secretary also directed the Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, to convene a review meeting within the next 15 days, covering all social welfare schemes, manpower position, and other related aspects, to ensure effective coordination and monitoring at the district level.
Reviewing the expenditure status of schemes under different Missions, she stressed the need for a well-thought-out and result-oriented strategy for proper implementation of all schemes. She further directed that monthly progress review meetings must be held strictly in accordance with the guidelines and commitments under various Missions.
The Secretary also took a detailed review of social security schemes under NSAP and the Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS), under which pensions are provided to old age persons, women in distress, and persons with disabilities, and emphasized timely disbursement and coverage of all eligible beneficiaries.
