    Leh, August 15, 2024: The 78th Independence Day of our nation was marked with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor as Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Advisor to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of UT Ladakh, hoisted the national tricolour and inspected the parade at the UT Civil Secretariat, Leh, this morning.
    In his address to the gathering, Dr. Kotwal extended his heartfelt congratulations to everyone present, including all Administrative Secretaries, Officers, and officials of the UT Secretariat. He spoke eloquently about the greatness of India as a free and democratic nation, highlighting the significance of safeguarding the culture of freedom of thought that has been deeply rooted in our civilisation. Drawing on the teachings of Buddha, Mahavira, the Sanghas, Ajivikas, Charvakas, and others, he emphasized the enduring spirit of liberty that has shaped the nation.
    Dr. Kotwal remarked, “We are all born free, and to rejoice in this freedom that we have in this great nation, the occasion of Independence Day is celebrated every year.” He urged everyone to respect the essence of liberty that our nation offers and to be ever conscious of our duties and responsibilities toward building a brighter future for our country.
    As part of the celebrations, Dr. Kotwal also took the opportunity to felicitate Shri Mohd Rohull, Naib Tehsildar, with a Certificate of Appreciation for his outstanding performance in handling revenue-related cases and his dedicated service as Magistrate during his posting at the Advisor’s office.
    The event was a fitting tribute to the spirit of independence, as well as a reminder of the responsibilities that come with the freedom we cherish. The program concluded with a light refreshment served by the General Administration Department, UT Ladakh.
