Aijaz Malik (JKPS) Assumes Charge as Superintendent of Police, Sham District.
Khaltse, May 03, 2026: Shri Aijaz Malik (JKPS) today formally assumed charge as the Superintendent of Police (SP), Sham, marking a significant milestone for the newly created district.
On his arrival at Liker, he was accorded a warm reception by Inspector Skarma Angchuck.
The Superintendent of Police also received a traditional and enthusiastic welcome by the Naib Tehsildar, Khaltse, Shri Phuntsog Namgail, along with villagers from across the Sham region en route to Khaltse. Prominent among those present were former Councillors Shri Lobzang Sherab (Khaltse) and Dr. Murup Dorjay (Lamayuru), President LBA Sham Shri Tsering Nurboo, President BJP Sham Shri Konchok Stak, President Nambardar Association Sham Shri Tsering Stobdan, President Women Alliance Sham Smt. Tsering Tsomo, Mandal President Saspol and Lamayuru, Nambardars of various villages, representatives of different associations, and residents of Sham.
A ceremonial Guard of Honour was presented by the Ladakh Police, followed by an official programme held at Police Station Khaltse.
This appointment comes in the wake of the recent notification declaring Sham as a separate district, one among the five newly created districts by the Administration. The creation of these districts aims to enhance administrative efficiency and ensure improved delivery of public services at the grassroots level.
Upon assuming charge, the Superintendent of Police congratulated the residents of Sham on attaining district status. On the occasion, he emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order, strengthening public safety, and promoting a people-friendly policing system in the district. He also highlighted the need to create opportunities for youth and assured his commitment to making the district exemplary in policing and public service.
