ASMITA League 2026 Concludes Successfully at NDS Ice Hockey Stadium, Leh.
Leh, March 27, 2026: The ASMITA League 2026 concluded successfully today at the NDS Ice Hockey Stadium, Leh, with an enthusiastic closing ceremony. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Smt. Sangita Saxena, First Lady, UT Ladakh.
The programme began with the National Song and National Anthem, marking the celebration of 150 years of “Vande Mataram.”
Administrative Secretary, Youth Services & Sports, Shri Moses Kunzang, welcomed the Chief Guest by presenting traditional khataks and shawl. Addressing the gathering, he expressed gratitude for her presence and highlighted the department’s commitment to promoting winter sports in Ladakh. He stated that more such tournaments will be organized in the coming days to encourage greater participation of girls in sports. He also explained the objectives and purpose of the ASMITA initiative, aimed at empowering women through sports.
On the occasion, Smt. Sangita Saxena congratulated all the winning teams and participants for their performance and spirit. She appreciated the efforts of the athletes, their families, and coaches, and also praised the Youth Services & Sports Department for successfully organizing the league. She lauded the development of the ice rink facilities and assured her support for the promotion of sports in Ladakh. She also expressed pride in Ladakhi girls performing well at national and international levels.
During the event, the final match of the ASMITA Ice Hockey tournament was played between Sham Eagles and Lalok, in which Sham Eagles emerged victorious, scoring 2 goals, while Lalok remained scoreless.
The closing ceremony concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winning teams. In the Ice Hockey competition, Sham Eagles secured the Gold Medal, Lalok won the Silver Medal, and Kharu team bagged the Bronze Medal. Prizes were also distributed to winners of Speed Skating and Figure Skating participation .
The event witnessed active participation from athletes and sports enthusiasts, marking a successful conclusion of the ASMITA League 2026 in Leh.
