    Assam Foundation Day celebrated with full fervour at LG Secretariat.

    Leh, Dec 02, 2023: Assam Diwas/the Foundation Day of Assam was celebrated with full fervour at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat in the presence of Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Shri Stanzin Chosphel; ADGP Ladakh, Dr SD Singh Jamwal, IPS; Commissioner Secretary, Shri Mehboob Ali Khan, IRS and Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS.
    Executive Councillor, Shri Stanzin Chosphel expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) for celebrating the foundation day of all the states/UTs of India at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat as a part of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme. He stated that the objective of celebrating foundation day of different states/UTs is to strengthen the unity and oneness among the people of India as envisioned by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. He also highlighted the need to raise awareness and the need to be aware of diverse cultures and societies in India so that we can overcome the boundaries and become one. Shri Chosphel also congratulated the people of Assam on their foundation day.
    ADGP Ladakh, Dr SD Singh Jamwal wished the people of Assam on their Formation Day. He shared his experiences of his visit to Assam and called Assam a culturally and biodiversity-rich state. He expressed gratitude to the UT Administration for celebrating the Foundation Day of all the States/UTs under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme so that we all can celebrate the diversity of India.
    Commissioner Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Shri Mehboob Ali Khan wished the people of Assam on the Foundation Day of their state. He shared the history of United Assam comprising Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram and Meghalaya and later the formation of the present Assam state on 2nd December, 1963. He also highlighted the bravery and valour of the armed forces from Assam serving/ or who have served in Ladakh for playing a significant role in the nation’s security. He shared his experiences of his visit to Assam and highlighted the major attractions of the state such as the Kaziranga National Park, Brahmaputra River and natural resources of Assam. Shri Mehboob stated that Assam is the commercial hub of northeastern states and hoped for the holistic development of Assam.
    Shri Dikanta Himanshu, who is currently serving in Ladakh under Project Himank and Prashant Das, who is serving in ITBP, expressed their gratitude to the UT Administration for celebrating the Foundation Day of Assam. They informed that Assam is famous for tea production, Kaziranga National Park, Dhola Sadiya Bridge- longest bridge on Brahmaputra River and culture and traditions of Assam.
    Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, informed about the celebration of Foundation Day of various states and UTs at the LG Secretariat under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme. He informed that Assam became the 17th state of India on 02nd December,1963 after the separation of Nagaland and Meghalaya from Assam. He also informed that Assam is famous for tea plantation, biodiversity and wildlife reserves. He shared his experience during his training in Forest service in Assam.
    The message from the Hon’ble Governor of Assam, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, was also played on the occasion. A video highlighting the attractions of Assam was also screened on the occasion.
    Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shri Santosh Sukhadeve, IAS; government officials and personnel from Assam serving in Ladakh were present during the Assam Foundation Day celebrations at the LG Secretariat.
