Assam Statehood Day celebrated at Lok Niwas Leh.
Leh, December 2: Assam Statehood Day, also known as Asom Divas, was celebrated at Lok Niwas, Leh, as part of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative led by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This programme celebrates India’s unity in diversity by showcasing its rich cultures, languages, and traditions while fostering unity and brotherhood among people from different cultural backgrounds.
Assam’s rich history is marked by the Ahom dynasty and the profound impact of King Swargadeo Chaulung Siu-Ka-Pha, who unified diverse communities and laid the foundation for the region’s enduring cultural legacy.
Assam is renowned for its world-famous tea plantations, Kaziranga National Park—a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for the one-horned rhinoceros, the vibrant Bihu dances, the sacred Kamakhya Devi Temple, and the mighty Brahmaputra River, all emblematic of its distinct cultural heritage.
The message of Governor of Assam, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, was played on the occasion. A video highlighting Assam Tourism celebrating Asom Diwas was also screened during the event.
Bidyut Jyoti Saika, Manush Sonowal, and Chhabi Lal Upriti- armed forces and central police personnel from Assam serving in Ladakh- spoke on the occasion, sharing insights into Assam’s traditions, festivals, and contributions to national unity.
Among those present in the event were personnel from Assam serving in Ladakh, officials and staff of Lok Niwas and Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat.
