Awareness Programme on Single-Use Plastic (SUP) and Littering Items Conducted in Sub-Division Liker.
Khaltse, June 21, 2026: In compliance with the directions issued by the UT Administration regarding the ban on Single-Use Plastic (SUP) and littering items, an awareness programme was conducted in Sub-Division Liker on June 20, 2026, under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Liker, Shri Gurmeet Namgial.
As part of the campaign, a surprise inspection and sensitization drive was also carried out in the Saspol area under the supervision of Tehsildar Saspol, Shri Tanveer Ahmad, to ensure strict compliance with the ban on Single-Use Plastic (SUP) and littering items.
During the inspection, on-the-spot awareness and sensitization activities were conducted at restaurants and commercial establishments. Restaurant owners, shopkeepers, and their staff were informed about the environmental hazards posed by plastic waste, the penalties prescribed for violations, and the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public spaces.
The shopkeepers were directed to install dustbins outside their establishments and refrain from disposing of waste in drains, open spaces, or other unauthorized locations.
Subsequently, inspection and sensitization drives were also conducted in Alchi, Uleytokpo, Hemischu, and Nurla to promote awareness and ensure effective implementation of the ban on Single-Use Plastic and littering items across the region.
