    Awareness Street Play on Drug Abuse Held at Leh Main Market.

    Leh, August 19, 2026: The Health Department Leh, with the support of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Leh, organised a nukkad natak at Leh Main Market to raise awareness among the public, particularly youth, about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
    Through an engaging performance, students highlighted the physical, mental and social consequences of substance abuse and sensitised the public about the Needle Exchange Programme and Opioid Substitution Therapy as key harm-reduction interventions.
    The performance was appreciated by the public and effectively conveyed the message of a drug-free and healthy society. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rinchen Chosdol and District Immunization Officer Dr. Farhana Iqbal were present to encourage the participants.
    The Health Department expressed gratitude to Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Leh, and the Information Department for their valuable support in making the awareness activity successful.
    The Department reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening community-based awareness initiatives for the prevention of drug abuse and promotion of a healthier society in Ladakh.
