The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh, successfully organized Balvatika Mela showcasing creativity, innovation, and talent from the model schools of the district. Bhanu Prabha, IAS, Administrative Secretary, Education UT Ladakh, graced the Balvatika Mela for the Model Schools of Leh Districts with her constant motivation and gracious presence, inspiring teachers and students alike throughout the day.
The inaugural morning session was honoured by the presence of Sh. Mohd. Iqbal Tak, AD Planning, Education UT Ladakh, along with ZEO Leh, Madam Padma Deachen, whose words of encouragement set a strong foundation for the day. In his welcome address, Principal DIET Leh, Sh. Mirza Mehdi, emphasized the importance of strengthening early childhood
education in the model schools of Leh district, highlighting how initiatives like the Balvatika Mela nurture creativity, innovation, and confidence among young learners while encouraging teachers to adopt activity-based and child-centric pedagogical practices.
The most awaited segment of the program, the Prize Distribution Ceremony, celebrated the achievements of young learners across categories. The winners were felicitated by Worthy Secretary Madam Bhanu Prabha ji, IAS, and ZEO Leh Madam Padma Deachen. In the TLM Presentation category, the third prize went to Leh Model High School (LMHS) Matho, the second prize to Leh Model Middle School (LMMS) Saspol, and the first prize to Leh Model High School (LMHS) Kharnakling. In the Performing Arts category, the third
prize was awarded to High School (HS) Gia, the second prize to High School (HS) Lingshed and Middle School (MS) Sumoor, and the first prize to Middle School (MS) Teygar.
The audience applauded the creativity, innovation, and dedication of the participants, reflecting the true spirit of the Balvatika Mela.
A special highlight of the program was the inauguration of Bhoti Rhymes by the gracious hands of Worthy Secretary Madam Bhanu Prabha ji, IAS, adding a unique cultural dimension to the event. In recognition of his invaluable contribution to composing these rhymes, Dr. Lotus Rabgais was felicitated with deep appreciation.
The valedictory program in the evening was once again graced by Worthy Secretary Madam Bhanu Prabha ji, IAS, whose inspiring words concluded the day on a high note, leaving a lasting impression on all present. DIET Leh extends heartfelt thanks to HOD Madam Tsering Yangdol and HOD Madam Sonam Lhamo for their guidance and support, to the entire organising team for their tireless efforts, and to 17000 ft Foundation NGO for generously
donating a model sample Balvatika furniture set to DIET Leh, which will serve as a valuable resource for early childhood education.
