    Bijli Mahotsav under theme Ujjawal Bharat Ujjawal Bhavishya observed at GDC Drass

    Kargil, July 29, 2022:

    As a part of a series of programs of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, Power Development Department (PDD), Power Distribution Department (PDC) Kargil in collaboration with NHPC Ltd. under the Ministry of Power Government of India today observed Bijli Mahotsav under the theme Ujjawal Bharat Ujjawal Bhavishya power@2047 at GDC Drass.

    Executive Councilor Works Mubarak Shah Nagvi was the chief guest besides Chief Engineer PDD Ladakh Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Councilor Bhimbhat Constituency Syed Mohammad Shah, Executive Engineer PDD Altaf Hussain, Executive Engineer PDC Feroz Ahmed, Principal GDC Drass Amjad Ali, Group General Manager NHPC Vikram Singh, concerned officers from PDD, PDC, Sarpanchs, Panchs, villagers, artists, students of Govt. Higher Secondary Silmoo were present on the occasion.

    On the occasion, EC Mubarak Shah Nagvi hailed the efforts of the Government of India (GoI) for providing round-the-clock power supply to the unconnected areas.

    He said uninterrupted power supply in today’s technological era is the basic need as life has become fully dependent on power.

    The EC said it is a moment of pride that Kargil has become self-sufficient in electricity compared to the times when there was no electricity in the district.

    On the occasion, Chief Engineer PDD Ladakh Ghulam Ahmed Mir said celebrating this moment is essential as in the last 75 years India has immensely developed in all sectors and become a surplus nation in electricity generation.

    Group General Manager NHPC, Vikram Singh in his introductory remarks highlighted the achievements of the GoI in the power sector.

    Students of GDC Drass presented their speeches on various schemes related to power sector. Later, the dignitaries presented momentos to participants of the event and cultural troupes.

    On the occasion, beneficiaries of Drass also shared their thoughts regarding the advantages of electricity.

    The program ended with screening of short videos on power development, Nukad Natak by Ranthag Theater Group, a cultural program by artists of Ladakh Academy of Art Culture and Languages (LAACL) and a colorful performance by students of GDC Drass.

    Executive Engineer PDD Altaf Hussain presented the vote of thanks.
