DC/ Principal Census Officer Kargil Launches Phase-II of Census 2027 Population Enumeration (PE).
Kargil, August 17, 2026: Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil,/ Principal Censor Officer, Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, IAS, today officially launched the second phase of Census 2027—Population Enumeration (PE)—at his office chamber in Kargil.
As part of the launch, Rakesh Kumar became the 2nd person to undertake Self-Enumeration (SE) for the Population Enumeration 2027 in Kargil, thereby encouraging citizens to participate in the digital self-enumeration process.
The second phase of Census 2027 places special emphasis on Self-Enumeration, enabling citizens to provide the required information themselves through the designated Self-Enumeration portal. The Self-Enumeration window will remain open from August 17 to August 31, 2026.
Through the designated portal ie se.snowbound.census.gov.in. While as the Population Enumeration exercise will be conducted from September 1 to September 30, 2026, by the appointed enumerators.
During this phase, enumerators will undertake door-to-door visits to each households to collect the required information for Census 2027.
Amit Kumar Bhargav, Deputy director Census operation, J&K and Ladakh UT; AD Census Vijay Kumar; Mohd Iqbal, Master Trainer; and District Coordinator Seddique Hussain beside Kacho Mohd Hussain, Chief Planning Officer Kargil, along with Khadim Hussain, S.O./Additional District Census Officer/DSEO Kargil, and other staff were present on the occasion.
