Drass, October 30, 2025: The Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, in collaboration with Government Degree College (GDC) Drass, organized an awareness program on social and environmental issues at GDC Drass.
The event was graced by Mr. Vishal Attri, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Drass, as the Chief Guest. The program was coordinated by Mr. Naseer Ahmad Rather (IIS), Field Publicity Officer, who briefed the gathering about the objectives and importance of the initiative.
The speakers delivered insightful talks on diverse themes. Mr. Gulzar Hussain spoke on Environment Protection, Mr. Ilyas Ahmad deliberated on New Criminal Laws, and Panchayat Secretary Mohd. Ali Roshan presented his views on Viksit Bharat.
Dr. Javed Mohammad Iqbal, Head, Department of Zoology, GDC Drass, delivered an extensive lecture on Drug Addiction, urging the youth to stay away from drugs and lead a meaningful life. Mr. Sajad Hussain, Head, Department of Environmental Science, GDC Drass, highlighted various Environmental Laws incorporated in the Indian Constitution and emphasized the individual’s role in protecting and preserving the environment.
Skit on the the above theme was also presented by Central Bureau of Communication to bring awareness among students .
Principal, Mr. Nasir Mehdi Shabani extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, guests, and expert speakers with traditional khataks and expressed sincere gratitude to the Ministry and the Central Bureau of Communication for organizing such a significant and socially relevant program.
A prize distribution ceremony was held, where Chief Guest Mr. Vishal Attri (SDM Drass) and Mr. Naseer Ahmad Rather (IIS) felicitated the winners of various competitions.
In his address, Chief Guest Mr. Vishal Attri encouraged students to stay away from drugs, remain focused on their ambitions, and play a constructive role in nation-building.
Students from Government Higher Secondary School Drass and Bhimbet actively participated in painting and speech competitions. The first position in painting was bagged by Higher Secondary School Bhimbet, while Ms. Shabna Parveen from GDC Drass secured the first position in the speech competition.
