Kargil, November 7, 2025: The Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today chaired a meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) of the District Hospital Kargil (DHK) at the hospital premises.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Medical Officer Kargil, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kargil, besides other members of the governing body of the RKS, including Executive Engineers of R&B 2nd, PHE, PDD and REW, Project Director KREDA, Project Officer ICDS, and the District Information Officer Kargil.
During the meeting, the CEC reviewed the overall functioning of the hospital and took stock of the ongoing infrastructural and developmental works at the District Hospital. After detailed discussions, the committee approved various new works through RKS, which include channeling and fencing of the waste disposal area, digging of a waste disposal pit, installation of aluminium partitions and furniture for the simulation section, fixing of stainless steel doors on the first floor, maintenance of ambulances, fabrication of shelves and racks in the newly constructed drug store, and repair of the anesthesia workstation along with other damaged equipment.
The meeting also approved the purchase of essential items under RKS for the smooth functioning of the hospital.
Dr. Akhoon directed the CMO and Medical Superintendent to educate patients about the importance of maintaining cleanliness within the hospital premises and to ensure that medical staff exhibit a patient-friendly attitude while discharging their duties. He further instructed them to procure a portable microphone system for broadcasting pre-recorded awareness messages around the hospital to facilitate communication and promote hygiene awareness among patients and visitors.
The CEC also directed the concerned officers to ensure that dustbins are placed in all washrooms and toilets to prevent littering and maintain hygiene within the hospital premises.
Dr. Akhoon reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Kargil and ensuring that quality medical services are accessible to all sections of society.
