CEC Dr Jaffer Akhoon inaugurates DSSRB coaching programme at GDC Zanskar.
Zanskar, September 21, 2025: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer, today inaugurated a two-month DSSRB coaching programme at Government Degree College (GDC) Zanskar.
The inaugural session was attended by Executive Councillor Er. Phunchok Tashi, Councillor Stanzin Lakpa, Nominated Councillor Namgyal Phunsoq, and Principal of GDC Zanskar, Dr. Amjad besides teaching and non- teaching staff and students of the college.
In his address, Dr. Jaffer congratulated the faculty of GDC Zanskar for taking this noble initiative, noting that the coaching programme will play a pivotal role for aspirants preparing for the upcoming KSSRB examinations. He highlighted the modern infrastructure of the college and the expertise of its highly qualified faculty, emphasizing that the students of Zanskar now have a golden opportunity to learn and excel in their chosen fields.
Referring to the pending construction of the college building, the CEC assured that LAHDC Kargil will make every effort to secure funds from the UT administration, while also allocating resources from the district CAPEX budget to ensure completion of the project.
Speaking on the occasion, EC Er. Phunchok Tashi commended the Principal and faculty for initiating the coaching classes, stressing that the programme will specially benefit students from underprivileged backgrounds. He urged students to make maximum use of the available facilities and technology, while also appreciating the pool of talented local teaching staff with diverse academic experience. He further requested the CEC to expedite the construction of the remaining college infrastructure and pledged his full support, assuring that he is always available for assistance.
Councillor Stanzin Lakpa also congratulated the faculty and students, extending his best wishes and full cooperation for the smooth conduct of the coaching programme.
