CEC Dr Jaffer tours Shilikchey, Hunderman, Poyen .
Kargil, June 30, 2024: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today toured Shilikchey, Hunderman Broq, Hunderman Mal and Poyen of 13 Poyen constituency.
At Omachikthang, Shilikchey, the CEC inspected ongoing road construction, instructing strict action against the JE involved in substandard work. Villagers raised issues such as compensation and mobile tower installation.
The CEC announced Rs 2 lakh from his untied grant for Tribal Women Welfare Cooperative Limited Kargil for purchasing necessary equipment through the Horticulture Department.
At Hunderman Broq, villagers requested for a solar lift irrigation system due to drought-like conditions, porter engagement, a special package, heritage village restoration, a medical sub-center, a playground, a ration store, road widening from Shilikchey to Hunderman Broq, an additional panch seat, and the Chokchas link road to Sakarila for tourists.
The CEC noted that a DPR of Rs 28 crore for road widening is proposed, assured to discuss porter engagement with JOC, and directed XEN R&B to explore the Sakarila link road for a viewpoint where three Pakistani villages are visible for tourism point of view.
He advised the Councillor to remind him about the additional panch seat before delimitation and instructed the CMO to include the sub-center in a new scheme of NHM, and assured the inclusion of a ration store in the SDP.
In Hunderman Mal, people demanded functioning of solar submersible pump, a PHC center, mobile tower, reading library with digital facilities, children park, handicrafts center etc.
The CEC Dr Jaffer instructed the relevant departments to take necessary action.
At Govt Model Middle School Shilikchey, the CEC addressed issues including teacher shortages, classroom waterproofing, additional block needs, a graveyard, shifting of the ST cable from school premises, link roads, an additional Anganwadi center, and an archery ground.
The CEC announced Rs 5 lakh from the untied grant for plaster work and assured that all issues would be resolved through sectoral coordination. He added that education is a top priority and promised to form a committee to begin work on additional school blocks.
In Poyen, villagers requested link roads to various routes and the allotted land at Kurbathang, upgrading the high school to higher secondary, rationalization of male and female teachers, a playground, the handover of the committee hall for REW, a library, permanent posting of teachers at Rhmos School, and ICT, sports, and laboratory equipment along with additional classrooms. Dr Jaffer announced Rs 2 lakh from the untied grant for purchasing ICT and sports equipment.
The CEC assured efforts to make Poyen High School one of the best schools during his tenure and urged villagers to avoid disputes over developmental projects. He stressed on their importance for future generations. He announced the sanctioning of the old hospital as an Urban PHC, benefiting the town and its periphery. He reiterated his commitment to the welfare and development of the people.
