Kargil, September 18, 2026: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today met and interacted with the team of super-specialist doctors from AIIMS New Delhi participating in the ongoing medical camp at QAAM Government District Hospital, Kurbathang, Kargil.
During the interaction, the CEC welcomed the visiting team of specialists and appreciated their valuable services to the people of Kargil, particularly those residing in the remote and high-altitude areas of the district.
Dr Jaffer Akhoon held discussions with the doctors regarding the specialised medical services being provided during the camp and took feedback on the healthcare requirements and challenges faced by patients in the region. He emphasised the importance of bringing advanced and specialised healthcare services closer to the people of Kargil, thereby reducing the need for patients to travel outside the district for consultations and treatment.
The CEC expressed his appreciation to Asoka Mission, New Delhi, for organising the medical camp in collaboration with the Health and Medical Education Department, UT Ladakh, and thanked the AIIMS team for their dedicated service.
He said that such specialised medical camps are particularly significant for a remote and high-altitude district like Kargil and called for continued collaboration between premier medical institutions and local healthcare authorities to strengthen specialised healthcare services in the region.
The AIIMS team comprises super-specialist doctors from various medical disciplines who are providing consultations and specialised medical services to patients during the two-day camp being held on September 18–19, 2026.
