    CEC Gyalson visits second phase of Lower Leh today, assesses public grievances & developmental issues

    Leh, April 17: The Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson is on a two-day official tour to Lower Leh constituency. On the second day, he visited Maney Sermo, Skampari (Gongma/Yokma), Kadmochey/Soldier Board, Nurbuling, Malpak, Zangsti, Skyanos-Gogsum, Maney Tselding, Nemoling and Metsik Chulung areas of Lower Leh.

    Residents of the colonies raised their grievances and demands to the Chairman, Councillor and concerned officials present during the tour. Most of the issues were common which include, insufficient drinking water facilities, land regularisation, waste management, the requirement of street lights, black-topping of roads, unplanned drainage and sewerage management, need for footpaths and renovations of community parks as well as community halls.

    CEC Gyalson evaluated all the issues with an on-ground visit to the sites. Assessing the issues related to sewerage pipelines at Polo-ground to Skampari via Soldier Board road and edge walls on the road from New Bus stand to Metsik Chulung, CEC Gyalson directed concern Executive Engineers (Xen) of PHE and R&B to plan a main hole on the Skampari road and re-appropriate the edge walls with proper consultancy on the road to Metsik Chulung. He also directed Xen PHE and I&FC for proper channelling of irrigation canals at Malpak – Upper Tukcha junctions which fall under Karzoo Zingyok. He also assured his assistance in addressing all other issues and developmental requirements of all the colonies of Lower Leh.

    Reacting to the issues of street lights in the town, Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Leh (MCL), Stanzin Rabgyais informed the people that Municipal Committee Leh will ensure street light connections in the entire town after the arrival of required pieces of equipment in Leh once the national highways are cleared for transportation.

    Taking serious note of the issues pertaining to the Sewerage Management System in the entire Leh town, CEC Gyalson has desired to conduct a special meeting with all the concerned officials and stakeholders soon to discuss and find a long term solution especially the maintenance of side drains across the town.

    CEC Gyalson visits Bakula Rinpoche Memorial Park at Spituk road in the evening and took stock of the progress of work at the park. Officials of Leh Development Authority (LDA) along with members of Bakula Memorial Society apprised CEC Gyalson of their plans for renovating the park which includes the construction of an Amphitheatre, Cafeteria and a compound walling of the surrounding. CEC Gyalson urged the officials to complete the work on a war-footing basis to meet up its proposed deadline.

    After completing a two-day official tour to Lower Leh Constituency, Councillor Lower Leh, Tsering Namgyal extended his gratitude to the Chairman, LAHDC Leh along with all the officials of Leh district for their active participation in conducting the tour to the entire constituency. In his message, CEC Gyalson stated that the tour was successful in evaluating on-ground public issues along with the concerned officers. He hopes that concerned departments should revisit and address all the issues in consultation with the residents in developing Leh sustainably and making it a liveable town.

    CEC Gyalson was accompanied by Councillor Lower Leh, DSE PWD Circle Leh, CMO Leh, Tehsildar Leh, I/C AD CAPDS Leh, Officials of LDA and CEO Leh, Executive Engineers of PDD, R&B, PHE, Irrigation-Flood Control and Executive Officer, MCL along with Ward Members of MCL during the entire tour to Lower Leh constituency.
