    Kargil, June 06, 2025 – Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargi Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon was called on by the Administrative Secretary Transport and Agriculture Bhupesh Chaudhary and Administrative Secretary Rural Development Department and Social Welfare Shashanka Ala here today at Council Secretariat.
    The meeting was also attended by Councilor Parkachik Constituency, Aga Syed Ainul Huda and Councillor Yurbaltak, Manzoor Hussain.
    During the meeting threadbare delegations and deliberations were held related to various developmental issues and works undergoing in the district under the concerned departments.
    CEC Dr Jaffar discussed the construction Of Rock Garden in Suru Valley and added that the construction of the garden should be done while considering the aesthetics of the place and local architecture. The CEC said the tendering of the garden should be expedited at earliest possibility and RDD should take the construction of the Garden under their supervision.
    Councilor Aga Syed Ainul Huda said that the construction of Rock Garden in Suru Valley will further enhance its potential as a Tourism destination, therefore an eco friendly model should be applied for its construction.
    Secretary Shashanka Ala stated that once the concept design is recieved by the department then after the tendering process will start.
    The Administrative Secretary RDD informed that at the cost of 30 crore rupees, Tribal Residential School for Kargil has been approved and the construction will be soon initiated. She added the school will accomodate 100 boys and 100 Girls.
    Secretary Shashanka further informed that under SBM, more segregation trucks have been procured for Kargil, further their is requirement to place a segregation truck at Drass Market due to increase flow of tourists.
    CEC Dr Jaffar appreciated the works under NRLM and SBM, undergoing in the district and added that more robust measures should be done to further strengthen them.
    During the meeting the CEC also discussed the status of arbitration cases with the Administrative Secretary Bhupesh Chaudhary and also raised the issue of discontinuation of some employees under the Transport department which have been giving their services for the last 20-25 years. The CEC said that employees should be allowed to continue on the similar pattern the way employees have been allowed to continue their services in Leh. The Administrative Secretary assured that needful will be done related to the matter.
    The CEC further suggested that students and old age citizens should be given concession in E-buses and E-buses should be allowed to commute till NIELET at Chutuk Village so that students of the institution also get benefit from the bus service. The Administrative Secretary assured that needful will be done.
    The CEC also discussed the issue of 1900 vehicles of Kargil that had registered for permits under the erstwhile J&K want to transfer their permits to the UT of Ladakh. The CEC asked for proper resolution of the matter.
    The Administrative Secretary said once the list of vehicles is received the matter will be discussed with Transport Commissioner of UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
    Related to Agriculture and Horticulture CEC Dr Jaffar said possible measures needs to be done to explore the potential of Sea Buck Thorn. Secretary Bhupesh Chaudhary said the department has constructed Apricot Drying and Processing Unit and Center for Excellence Unit for Apricot at Kurbathang and on the similar demonstration Sea Buck Thorn’s potential and growth will also be explored in Kargil.
    The CEC appreciated the Secretaries for the visit to Kargil and added that their visit will bring positive impact over the functioning of the concerned departments.
