CEC Kargil Attends Final Match and Closing Ceremony of District Police Civic Action Programme Sports Event 2026.
Kargil, June 16, 2026: Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today attended the Final Match and Closing Ceremony of the District Police Kargil Civic Action Programme (CAP) Sports Event 2026 held at Futsal Ground, Baroo.
The event was organized by District Police Kargil with the objective of promoting sportsmanship, youth engagement, and positive community participation through sports.
The final football match was played between RLC Baroo and Poyen in which RLC Baroo emerged victorious with a commanding 9-1 win over poyen.
Among others present on the occasion were DySP Headquarters Inayatullah; DSP Security Syed; Dysp DAR Tundup Dorjay; SHO Kacho Sadat, other officers and officials of District Police Kargil.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon appreciated the efforts of Ladakh Police, particularly under the leadership of SSP Kargil Nitin Yadav, for organizing such a meaningful initiative under the Civic Action Programme. He stated that sports play a vital role in ensuring physical fitness, mental well-being, discipline, teamwork, and the development of sportsmanship among youth.
The CEC congratulated District Police Kargil on behalf of LAHDC Kargil for successfully conducting the sports event and providing a constructive platform for young talent. He encouraged players and students to actively participate in sports, highlighting the growing opportunities available through sports quotas in government jobs and various competitive avenues at the national and international levels.
Dr. Akhoon emphasized that the Administration and LAHDC Kargil are committed to strengthening sports infrastructure across the Union Territory and are working towards the development of modern sports facilities and playgrounds for different disciplines. He informed the gathering that several players from Ladakh are already representing the region at national and international levels and urged youth to take inspiration from their achievements.
The CEC further announced that the Chilling Ice Rink will soon become functional, providing additional opportunities for winter sports enthusiasts. He reiterated the Council’s commitment towards the promotion of sports and assured that every possible effort is being made to ensure transparency, accountability, and merit-based opportunities in the fields of education and sports.
He also congratulated both the winners and runners-up for their outstanding performance and encouraged all participants to continue pursuing excellence through dedication and hard work.
During the event, medals, trophies, mementoes, and cash prizes were distributed among the winning teams, runners-up, participants in different categories of games, officials, and departments associated with the successful conduct of the programme.
The vote of thanks was presented by DSP Headquarters, who expressed gratitude to the Football Association Kargil, Kargil Press Club, Information Department, and all supporting departments and stakeholders for their valuable cooperation and contribution in making the event a grand success.
The programme concluded with the prize distribution ceremony and a renewed commitment towards fostering sports culture and youth empowerment across the district.
