CEC Kargil Attends Final Match of 1st Chiktan Premier League.
Kargil, May 10, 2026: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today attended the final match of the 1st Chiktan Premier League held at Chiktan amid enthusiastic participation from sports lovers and local residents.
The tournament, organized by the 1st Chiktan Premier League Committee in collaboration with Venus Chiktan, witnessed the participation of 22 teams from different areas, making it one of the biggest cricket tournaments ever organized in the history of Chiktan.
The final match was played between United Dargo and Shakar Chiktan. After winning the toss, Shakar Chiktan elected to bat first and posted a total of 182 runs. In a thrilling contest, United Dargo fought hard but narrowly missed the target by just one run, scoring 181 runs. Shakar Chiktan emerged as the winner of the tournament.
Mehdi Khan was declared the Man of the Match, while Azaj Dargo received the Man of the Tournament award. The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 35,000 along with the trophy, while the runner-up team received Rs 25,000 with Trophy,
Addressing the gathering, CEC Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon congratulated both the winning and runner-up teams for displaying remarkable sportsmanship and talent. He highlighted the importance of sports in promoting physical and mental well-being and stated that sports play a vital role in the overall growth and development of youth.
Dr. Akhoon in response to the demnads raised by the public assured the public that important issues related to road connectivity in the area have already been taken up with the UT Administration. He also assured support for the renovation and preservation of the historic Chiktan Khar, and leveling, widening, and extension of the playground, the CEC assured that the project would be proposed under the District Capex Budget in the upcoming financial year.
As a gesture of appreciation and encouragement, the CEC announced one cricket kit each for both finalist teams. He also stressed the importance of education alongside sports and urged the youth to remain focused on their studies, stating that they are valuable assets of society.
Councillor Chiktan, Liyaqat Ali, in his address, thanked the CEC for visiting Chiktan and expressed confidence that all issues raised by the public would continue to receive due attention for the welfare and development of the area. He also congratulated both teams and appreciated the successful organization of the tournament.
Among others present on the occasion were Councillor Chiktan Liyaqat Ali, In-charge Police Post Chiktan, BJP Mandal President Shamim, local representatives, villagers, and a large number of spectators.
