CEC Kargil Calls on Hon’ble Union Minister of State (PMO) Dr. Jitendra Singh; Raises Key Issues Concerning Kargil and Newly Created Districts.
New Delhi, August 7, 2026: Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, today called on Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, at New Delhi and held a detailed and productive meeting on key issues concerning Kargil and the newly created districts.
The CEC raised the matter of early operationalisation of Kargil Airport for civil flight, underlining its critical importance for connectivity, tourism and the overall development of the region. He requested the Union Minister’s personal intervention to ensure that the airport is made functional for civil aviation at the earliest.
Dr. Akhoon also brought to the notice of the Union Minister the demand for creation of a new district that had been left out when the recent districts were created, and requested that the matter be taken up at the highest level for early and favourable consideration.
Development aspects of the districts were also discussed. The CEC asked for central support in infrastructure, healthcare and education.
Dr. Singh assured the CEC of his full support and stated that the concerns raised would be taken cognizance of on priority.
The CEC expressed gratitude to Dr. Singh for according time for the meeting.
