    CEC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon Inaugurates New Building at Government Model Middle School, Titichumik

    Kargil, May 03, 2025: The Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today inaugurated the newly constructed building of Government Model Middle School, Titichumik.
    The event was graced by Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Ladakh, Shri Mohd Haneefa Jan; Executive Councilor for Education, LAHDC Kargil, Shri Zakir Hussain; Hon’ble Councillor of Baroo-Minji Constituency, Adv. Khadim Hussain; Executive Engineer, R&B Department; Chief Education Officer (CEO), Kargil; Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Kargil; CEO of rZamba; village elders; members of the Village Education Committee (VEC); school faculty; and other dignitaries.
    In his address, CEC Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to enhancing educational standards in the region. He highlighted ongoing efforts to work with subject experts to make the CBSE curriculum more accessible and effective for both teachers and students. He assured that the vacant post of Hindi teacher at the school would soon be filled and announced a financial assistance of Rs. 3 lakh for addressing various institutional needs. The CEC also committed to looking into key developmental requirements of the village, including lift irrigation, road extension, a sports stadium, a Primary Health Centre, and other necessary infrastructure.
    Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Shri Mohd Haneefa Jan, extended his congratulations to the Councillor, former public representatives, and the local community for the school’s successful upgrade to model status. He emphasized the importance of teacher training programs, community engagement in school management, and assured full support for fulfilling the school’s future needs.
    Executive Councilor for Education, Shri Zakir Hussain, stated that while the LAHDC and District Administration strive to ensure proper educational infrastructure, the real success of an institution lies in the joint responsibility of the VEC and teaching staff. He proposed the allocation of funds from the untied head to install CCTV cameras on the school premises and also suggested exploring the installation of rooftop solar panels to promote sustainability.
    Chairman of the Village Education Committee, Shri Ashiq Hussain, noted that the village community had initiated the process to transform the school into a model institution in the academic year 2021–22. Thanks to combined efforts, student enrollment rose dramatically—from just 6 students in 2022 to 80 in 2025.
    The VEC members expressed heartfelt gratitude to LAHDC Kargil and the District Administration for their crucial role in the school’s development, especially for enabling the construction of the new building. They also acknowledged the valuable contributions of the NGO rZamba, which has been working in close coordination with the VEC to strengthen the school’s curriculum. Notably, a dedicated international volunteer from Ukraine is also contributing actively to the school’s growth through the same collaboration.
    In closing, VEC Chairman Shri Ashiq Hussain presented a list of further requirements and proposals for the school and thanked the dignitaries for their presence and continued support.
