    Kargil, September 08, 2025: Government Degree College (GDC) Drass, in collaboration with the Drass Administration and sponsored by Councillors of Rambirpora and Bhimbet constituencies, today inaugurated a Free Crash Course and Mentoring Programme for KSSRB and LSSRB aspirants of the Drass region.
    Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, attended the inaugural ceremony as the Chief Guest. The event was also graced by Councillor Abdul Wahid (Bhimbet, Drass), Councillor Abdul Samad (Rambirpora), Principal of GDC Drass, Zonal Education Officer Drass, Block Medical Officer Drass, faculty members, and a large number of students.
    The programme began with Tilawat-e-Qur’an, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Shujat, Assistant Professor at GDC Drass.
    In his address, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon commended the initiative, acknowledging the importance of such programmes in empowering the youth of remote areas. He encouraged students to take maximum advantage of the opportunity. He appreciated the efforts of GDC Drass, the district administration, and the sponsoring councillors for facilitating quality coaching free of cost.
    Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon emphasized that the students of Drass possess immense talent but require proper guidance to succeed in competitive examinations. He lauded the dedication of the faculty members who, besides their primary teaching responsibilities, volunteered to contribute to this initiative. He further assured that the regular academic schedule of the college would not be compromised.
    Councillors Abdul Wahid and Abdul Samad also expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, Principal, and faculty members of GDC Drass for their dedication and commitment. They assured all possible support for the smooth functioning of the programme and urged the students to work hard and utilize the resources provided to them.
    Principal GDC Drass, Nasir Shabani, informed that over 300 students have registered for the crash course. He underlined the significance of employment avenues for the youth and congratulated the LAHDC and administration for the recent advertisement of posts, which has provided a platform for unemployed youth. He also highlighted the proposed initiatives for starting coaching courses for the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Combined Defence Services (CDS) by GDC Drass in collaboration with the Indian Army.
    Shabani also highlighted the innovative contribution of resource person Mehboob Ilahi, who developed the “RomPrep App”, a digital platform compiling previous year question papers, study notes, video lectures, and syllabus details for the benefit of aspirants. He urged students to utilize these resources effectively and bring laurels to their families, society, and region.
    The programme concluded with a presentation by resource person Mehboob Ilahi, who demonstrated the features of the RomPrep App and guided students on how to make the best use of it in their preparation journey.
