    CEC Kargil Inaugurates Knee and Hip Replacement Surgery Camp by BHC&RC

    Kargil, July 23, 2025 – Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Kargil, today inaugurated a three-day total knee and hip replacement surgery camp organised by the Baqirya Health Care and Research Center (BHC&RC) in collaboration with the Department of Health, LAHDC Kargil. The camp is scheduled from July 22 to July 25, 2025.
    The inauguration ceremony was attended by Chief Medical Officer Kargil, Medical Superintendent, Director of the Knee Division at Medanta – The Medicity (Gurugram, Haryana) Dr. Atique Vasudev, Chairman of the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) Kargil Sheikh Mohammad Sadiq Rajai, BHC&RC and IKMT volunteers, senior citizens, and other officials.
    The surgeries during the camp will be conducted under the supervision of Dr. Atique Vasudev from Medanta, Gurugram.
    In his address, Dr. Akhoon praised BHC&RC Kargil and its volunteers for their continued efforts to bring specialised healthcare services to the people, particularly the underprivileged. He described their services as “incredible” and encouraged the organisation to conduct similar camps in the future for the benefit of needy patients.
    He reaffirmed LAHDC Kargil’s commitment to making healthcare accessible, especially for residents who cannot afford expensive treatments outside the region.
    Highlighting past achievements, BHC&RC Vice President Dr. Oliyat Ali said the first knee and hip replacement surgery camp in Kargil was organised in 2019, during which 23 knee replacements and one hip replacement were successfully performed.
    This year, around 60 patients have registered for knee replacement surgeries and several for hip replacement procedures. Dr. Oliyat also thanked Dr. Atique Vasudev for his continued voluntary support in providing expert medical care in Kargil.
