CEC Kargil Reviews Design Proposal for Archive Museum at Trespone.
Kargil, May 15, 2025 — Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, convened a detailed review meeting to discuss the proposed Archive Museum project at Trespone, Kargil. The estimated project cost is ₹9.5 crore, inclusive of contingencies and consultancy services.
The meeting was attended by Executive Councillor Aga Mujtaba, Assistant Director/Registering Officer, Antiquities Department (Archives, Archaeology, and Museums) Khadim Hussain, and Principal Architect from Rigzin & Associates Architecture Rigzin Teswang. Mr. Tsewang delivered a comprehensive presentation featuring an animated walkthrough and a detailed design proposal.
Discussions in the meeting focused on the museum’s architectural layout, site location, topography, identified land, interior design, and the cultural significance of the project. The proposal emphasizes the preservation and promotion of the rich heritage and history of the region.
Dr. Akhoon stressed the importance of incorporating cultural and historical elements into the museum’s design, stating, “It is imperative to highlight and preserve our unique cultural identity and artifacts for future generations.”
The Archive Museum at Trespone is envisioned as a landmark institution dedicated to showcasing Kargil’s historical legacy, aimed at enriching cultural awareness and academic interest in the region.
