CEC Kargil Reviews Preparations ahead of Suru Valley Festival, Directs Timely Completion of Arrangements.
Kargil, August 22, 2026: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today visited the festival venue at Damsna to review the preparations for the upcoming Suru Valley Festival 2026 from Agust 26.
The CEC was accompanied by Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Altaf Hussain; Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar; Additional District Development Commissioner Ghulam Mohammad; Deputy Director Tourism, Mohd Taqi; Assistant Director Tourism, Mohammad Ali Tak; coucillor of Tai Suru, Cultural Officer; Executive Engineers of concerned departments; and other district officers.
During the visit, Dr. Jaffer Akhoon took a detailed review of the arrangements being made for the festival, including adventure and mountain activities, cultural programmes, theatre, power supply and backup, lighting, stalls, exhibition and display areas, public amenities, invitation cards distributions to all dignitaries and guests and other logistical arrangements.
The concerned officers briefed the CEC on the progress of preparations and the arrangements being put in place by their respective departments.
Dr. Jaffer Akhoon directed all concerned officers and departments to work in close coordination and ensure that all necessary arrangements are completed in a timely and proper manner. He specifically directed that all pending works at the festival venue, ibe completed before August 25.
The CEC emphasized that adequate attention should be given to visitor convenience, safety, infrastructure, cleanliness and overall management to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the Suru Valley Festival.
He expressed confidence that the festival would provide a vibrant platform to showcase the rich cultural heritage, adventure potential and scenic beauty of Suru Valley, while promoting Kargil as a major tourism destination.
