Kargil, July 26, 2025 – Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, attended the Ladakh Health Dialogue organized by the Haemophilia and Health Collective of North, held under the theme “Haemophilia, Bleeding, Blood and Health” for healthcare providers.
The event featured renowned medical experts including Dr. K.K. Kaul, Prof. Naresh Gupta, and Dr. Amisha Gupta, who served as the key presenters. The dialogue was also attended by the Chief Medical Officer Kargil, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Kargil, doctors, paramedical and technical staff, and nursing students from across the district.
In his address, Dr. Akhoon congratulated the keynote speakers for imparting vital awareness and outlining mitigation strategies to address haemophilia and other bleeding disorders. He expressed his gratitude to Dr. Kaul, Prof. Gupta, and their team for organizing such a significant health awareness initiative in the district.
Reiterating his commitment, Dr. Akhoon emphasized LAHDC Kargil’s dedication to strengthening health infrastructure and ensuring quality medical services reach the people at their doorsteps. He shared that in recent years, gynaecologists, surgeons, and physicians have been posted under NHM into District Hospital Kargil, providing much-needed relief to the local population.
The CEC further announced that consultant specialists such as urologists, cardiologists, neurologists, and radiologists will be made available in the district hospital by the end of this year. These efforts, he noted, are particularly aimed at easing the burden on economically weaker sections of society by reducing the need for travel to distant cities for specialized care.
Dr. Akhoon also highlighted that District Hospital Kargil is equipped with modern medical infrastructure, staffed by highly qualified doctors and dedicated paramedical teams. He expressed optimism that an MRI machine will be installed in the hospital very soon, with all necessary steps already underway.
Speaking with empathy, Dr. Akhoon shared that being a doctor himself, he feels deeply relieved and motivated to contribute to the healthcare sector in any way possible. He also mentioned engaging with various stakeholders to explore avenues for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding, aimed at bringing further health benefits to the people of Kargil.
Key speaker Dr. K.K. Kaul extended his thanks to the CEC for attending the event despite his demanding schedule. Dr. Kaul lauded Dr. Akhoon’s efforts and commitment to the welfare of Kargil’s residents, especially those from marginal communities. He also praised Dr. Akhoon’s dedication, compassion, and unwavering support as a fellow member of the medical fraternity.
The event was held on the auspicious occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, and concluded with heartfelt tributes to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War, remembering their valor and supreme sacrifice for the nation.
