Chief Engineer Project Himank & National Awardee teacher call on Hon’ble Lt Governor, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd)
Leh, Nov 23, 2023: The newly appointed Chief Engineer of Project Himank, Brig Vishal Srivastava, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Advisor to HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS and the outgoing Chief Engineer of Project Himank, Brig Gaurav Singh Karki, were present in the meeting.
Brig Vishal and Brig Karki discussed various ongoing projects being implemented by Project Himank in Ladakh. The HLG commended Project Himank for executing various essential development projects in Ladakh. He emphasised the importance of collaboration efforts between Project Himank and the local administration to work jointly for the development of the region.
National Awardee Teacher Shri Sonam Gyalson called on the HLG at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Advisor to HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS and Principal Secretary, Education, Shri Sanjeev Khirwar, IAS were present in the meeting.
Principal Secretary Shri Sanjeev Khirwar, IAS informed about the exercise being conducted by the School Education Department to look into the feasibility of providing incentives to National Award-winning teachers from Ladakh for their meritorious services as being done in other states of India.
Shri Gyalson made several suggestions to improve the standards of government schools in Ladakh.
The HLG stated that efforts are being made by the Administration to develop government schools in Ladakh. He asked Shri Khirwar to examine the proposal to provide incentives to National Awardee teachers and take appropriate steps in this regard.
