Chief Secretary reviews progress of Vibrant Village Programme projects in Ladakh.
Leh, September 4, 2026: Chief Secretary, UT of Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, chaired a meeting to review the progress and implementation of projects under the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP) in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
During the meeting, Administrative Secretary, Rural Development Department (RDD), Nidhi Malik, gave a detailed presentation on the overall status and progress of the Vibrant Village Programme. The presentation covered the physical and financial progress of the projects approved under VVP-I, including the sanctioned and allocated costs of various projects and the expenditure and estimated cost incurred to date.
The meeting also discussed the new project proposals submitted for the Nubra and Changthang regions. Detailed deliberations were held on various issues and requirements related to tourism, land acquisition, Himsarovar projects and other development initiatives proposed under the programme.
The meeting further reviewed infrastructure and development requirements in the Vibrant Villages, including road connectivity, educational facilities, strengthening the village economy, standardisation of infrastructure and facilities, and sports-related initiatives undertaken under the DARPAN projects and Army Sadbhavana initiatives.
The status of projects under submission from various districts was also reviewed. The Chief Secretary directed the concerned departments to ensure proper planning and comprehensive documentation of the proposed projects. He stressed that the proposals to be presented in the next VVP meeting should include village-wise plans supported by photographs and detailed information, along with a comprehensive final project report. He further directed the concerned departments to focus on employment-oriented projects aimed at generating sustainable livelihood and employment opportunities for the local population.
Chief Secretary also emphasised the need for effective coordination among all concerned departments and stakeholders to ensure timely implementation of the approved projects and to maximise the developmental impact of the Vibrant Village Programme in the border areas of Ladakh.
