Takes stock of progress on establishment of Laser Water Screen Multimedia Projection Show by ITDC at TFC, Kargil
KARGIL, NOVEMBER 12, 2023: The Commissioner/Secretary, Tourism and Culture, UT of Ladakh Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan chaired a meeting at meeting hall, DC office, Kargil on Friday regarding identification and allotment of land for Swadesh Darshan 2.0 projects, Tourist Reception Center (Skorhyangs Campus) near Zojila, Museum, Mini Stadium at Chanigund and Suru River Front Development Project under SDP.
Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Shrikant Suse; Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Kargil Muhammad Sharif Kakpori; Tehsildar, Kargil Kacho Asgar Ali Khan; Executive Engineer, Tourism Development Authority, Kargil Tsering Morup; AD (Tourism), Aga Syed Tawha; Executive Officer, MC, Kargil Shafqat Ali ; Under Secretary/OSD, Tourism and Culture, Muhammad Ali Tak; Registering Officer, Antiquities, Khadim Hussain besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.
With regard to allotment of land for construction of multi-level car parking and tourism amenities under Swadesh Darshan 2.0 at new Taxi Stand Kargil, the Commissioner/Secretary instructed the ACR, Executive Officer, MC Kargil and AD Tourism to ascertain the available land and demarcate the area available for development and submit a report in this regard within 5 days. He said that beautification of MES-Chanchik Road and development of Baroo Doh heritage bridge/old Iqbal bridge can be considered as part of the multi storey parking cum tourist amenities complex under Swadesh Darshan 2.0 Scheme.
The Commissioner/Secretary Khan stated that the land already identified/allotted for construction of Skorhyangs Campus at Minamarg near Zojila is not suitable, and alternate land needs to be made available for the same. The Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil promised that alternate land will be allotted for the project at Matayen along the highway.
The Commissioner/Secretary emphasised on the need to expedite the process of allotment of land for Skorhyangs Campus so that work on the project can be taken up at the earliest.
Regarding the Suru River Front Development Project, Commissioner/Secretary Khan stated that feasibility of the project depends on availability of state land, which can be utilised to create infrastructure to decongest the Kargil/town and beautify it. He stressed on the Revenue officials to ascertain from revenue records the status of the land patches available along the river banks.
The Commissioner/Secretary Khan directed the AD (Tourism), Kargil to undertake on spot visit of Bhimbat area along with the SDM, Drass for development of the Bhimbat Stone area. The DC/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil also pointed out that the Advisor to Hon’ble LG, Ladakh during his recent visit to Kargil has also directed to take up this work..
The Commissioner/Secretary also instructed the DC, Kargil and Revenue officials to expedite the formal allotment of land for construction of mini stadium at Dudu Thang, Chanigund and museum at Trespone under SDP scheme.
Earlier, during a virtual meeting with the officials of India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) Limited, the Commissioner/Secretary took stock of the progress on establishment of Laser Water Screen Multimedia Projection Show at Tourist Facilitation Center, Kargil.
He raised various issues and stated that a committee of experts will be formed from Kargil to improve the quality and content of the show along with the creative team of ITDC. The Commissioner/Secretary emphasised on completing this project before March, 2024.
