Kargil, April 21, 2025: The 3rd day of the Watershed Yatra 2025 was held on 21st April 2025 at Panchayat Ghar G.M. Pore (TSG) under the PMKSY 2.0 – Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP), Kargil, Ladakh. The event was a resounding success, marked by active community participation and enthusiastic engagement.
The program witnessed the presence of several dignitaries including the local Councillor, Lambardar, members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and members of the local community.
The day commenced with an inauguration and oath-taking ceremony, symbolizing a shared commitment to watershed conservation. This was followed by the Watershed Mahotsav, a vibrant celebration that showcased the spirit of community participation in sustainable water management practices.
To foster awareness among the youth, a quiz competition was conducted focusing on watershed-related issues. The winners were felicitated during the prize distribution ceremony, which also honored individuals for their noteworthy contributions to the cause.
Traditional Bhumi Pujan and Lokarpan rituals were performed by the staff, symbolizing the spiritual dedication of the watershed projects to the local community.
The event concluded with the formal handover of watershed management responsibilities to the local community, reinforcing the principle of grassroots stewardship and sustainability.
This initiative under PMKSY 2.0 underscores the vital role of community-led efforts in advancing water conservation and sustainable development in Kargil, Ladakh.
