    Zanskar, September 18, 2025 — In a proactive move to uplift educational standards and infrastructure in remote regions, the worthy Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, along with the Chief Education Officer Kargil, Sonam Wangchuk, District Coordinators UDISE and Yountab, and the VVM State Coordinator, conducted an extensive visit to several schools in the Zanskar Zone today.
    The team visited Middle School Rangdum, PM SHRI Middle School Skyagam, Higher Secondary School Phay, and High School Tungri. During the visit, DC Kargil thoroughly inspected the infrastructure and facilities at each institution, attentively listened to the concerns and grievances of school staff, and assured timely redressal of the issues raised.
    Recognizing the readiness of newly constructed facilities, DC Kargil issued a clear instruction to the school administration of MS Rangdum to shift operations to the new school building within four days. This move aims to ensure that students and staff benefit from improved learning conditions without delay.
    As part of the Yountab Scheme, tablets were distributed among students at MS Rangdum, marking a significant step toward digital inclusion and modern learning. The initiative was warmly received by students and staff alike.
    DC Kargil reviewed staff and student attendance registers, emphasizing the importance of regularity and punctuality. He also inspected Teachers’ Diaries and advised educators to maintain them consistently for the academic benefit of students.
    The delegation assessed the progress of ongoing construction works, including hostels, additional classrooms, and kitchen sheds being built under various government schemes. DC Kargil stressed the need for timely completion and adherence to quality standards to ensure safe and conducive learning environments.
    At HSS Phay, the VVM State Coordinator presented the Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) 2025-26 brochure to the Principal, encouraging active participation in science-based competitions and fostering a culture of inquiry and innovation among students.
    This visit underscores the administration’s commitment to equitable education, digital empowerment, and responsive governance in the far-flung areas of Zanskar.
