    Drass, June 05, 2026 — On the final day of the ‘Swachh Gaon Surakshit Jalvayu’ Campaign, Deputy Commissioner Drass, Imteeaz Kacho today attended a Gram Sabha at Village Chokiyal of Bhimbat Block organized by the Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Department. The event was attended by LAHDC Councillor, Abdul Wahid, and officials of the Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Department.
    Coinciding with World Environment Day, the gathering focused on sensitizing the local residents about the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules of 2026 and the ongoing Swachh Gaon Surakshit Jalvayu campaign.
    The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the sincere efforts of the Block Development Officer, Bhimbat, his Inspector, Panchayat Secretary and other field staff for making the five-day campaign a huge success owing to mass participation and result-oriented activities. He thanked the team and the participants while urging them to continue keeping Drass neat and clean under the ‘Clean Humas, Green Humas’ initiative. He also lauded the strategic integration of local Gram Panchayat functionaries, field staff and villagers towards ensuring community-led enforcement of eco-conscious rules.
    The Deputy Commissioner also emphasized that rural socio-economic growth remains deeply tied to environmental hygiene and safe water resource management. He also stressed on the need to segregate waste at source as prescribed and with sincerity.
    Councillor Abdul Wahid lauded the enthusiasm of the residents of Chokiyal and extended his appreciation to the Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Department for mapping out targeted civic interventions. While highlighting the various development works undertaken in the area, he urged the residents to maintain those assets. He sought intervention of the District Administration for taking up more developmental initiatives in the village.
