DC Kargil Chairs meeting on Flashfloods in Kargil.
Kargil,August 19, 2025: Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar chaired a review meeting of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) to assess the relief and other works related to flashfloods in Shakar Chiktan and Suru Valley.
The meeting was attended by ADC Kargil Imteeaz Kacho and members of the DDMA Committee.
During the meeting threadbare deliberation were held related to declare the recent flashfloods in the different areas of Kargil as a national disaster.
The DC asked the Director Meteorology and concerned officers of Irrigation and Flood Control to provide the necessary data to assess the gravity of the situation to recommend it as a national disaster.
He added, that in Shakar Chiktan a committee will be framed for survey and to deal with the flashfloods mitigation in future.
