    Kargil, June 28, 2025 – Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kargil, Rakesh Kumar – IAS, today chaired a meeting at conference hall Baroo to review and finalize arrangements for the upcoming Muharram commemorations, including the processions on 9th and 10th Muharram.
    The meeting was attended by SSP Kargil Shri Ram R, Additional Deputy Commissioner Imteeaz Kacho, Chief Medical Officer Kargil, Executive Engineer PHE, officers from the Food, PDD, Municipal, and Information departments, along with representatives of religious organisations IKMT and Jamiat-ul-Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil. SDMs from Drass, Chiktan, and Zanskar participated virtually.
    During the meeting, the DC took a comprehensive review of departmental preparedness in both urban and rural areas, with a special focus on essential services such as drinking water, medical aid, power supply, traffic regulation, sanitation, and food supplies.
    Highlighting the importance of health services during the processions, the DC instructed the Health Department to organize a blood donation camp prior to the 9th and 10th Muharram to ensure adequate availability in the blood bank. It was informed that the medical camp would be shifted from the old hospital to the basement of the Omni Taxi Stand (Eco Stand) for easier access.
    The DC directed the Information Department to deploy public address systems and operators at all venues. He was also informed that the Food Department had fulfilled the demand for rice for religious organisations as part of the arrangements.
    To ensure smooth conduct of the events, the DC urged the religious bodies to continue their cooperation, follow previous best practices, and strictly adhere to law and order guidelines. He also requested the organisations to share the list of volunteers to facilitate better coordination.
    SSP Kargil, Shri Ram R, also appealed to all stakeholders to maintain order, discipline, and extend full support to the administration in ensuring a peaceful observance of the sacred days.
    Representatives from IKMT and Jamiat-ul-Ulama Isna Asharia expressed their gratitude to the District Administration for its continued support in facilitating the solemn and peaceful conduct of the Muharram commemorations.
