DC Leh Chairs Meeting on Welfare of Persons with Disabilities, Reviews UDID Implementation and Outreach Initiatives.
Leh, July 21, 2025: The Deputy Commissioner Leh, Romil Singh Donk, IAS, chaired a review meeting regarding implementation of various schemes and targeted initiatives for the welfare of Persons with Disabilities on July 21st at the VC Room of the DC Office Leh.
During the meeting, Chief Medical Officer Leh, Dr. Dolma Chuskit gave a detailed briefing on the Unique Disability ID (UDID) process. She informed that disability certification is now an online-based system and a dedicated medical board/committee is responsible for issuing certificates after proper assessment. She also informed that 1,260 disability certificates have been issued through the online UDID platform so far.
DC Leh enquired regarding CHC-level screening and outreach locations. CMO reported that recent screening camps were conducted in Kharnakling and earlier camps were held in Khaltsi. The outreach programme continues across schools and community settings. Chief Education Officer, Leh informed that a detailed schedule has been prepared and that campaigns will resume after the ongoing school vacation.
DC Leh emphasized the need to expand screening activities beyond schools, to ensure wider reach and timely support. He also instructed officials to share the campaign schedule with his office for effective coordination. Additionally, a proposal under the Accessible India Campaign aimed at making communities barrier-free and inclusive was discussed.
