DC Leh Santosh Sukhdeve Distributes Archery Equipment at Government School Likir.
Likir, May 5, 2025 – The Deputy Commissioner of Leh, Santosh Sukhdeve, visited Government School Likir and distributed archery equipment, fulfilling a prior commitment made to the school on May 3, 2025. The event was organized with support from the District Youth Services and Sports Department.
The event was attended by Councillor of Saspol Constituency Smanla Dorjey, Chief Planning Officer Tsewang Gyalson, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Tsering Tashi, Namberdar, Ex-Sarpanch, and President of the Youth Society Lukhil Gonyul Thundel Tsogspa Likir.
DC Leh felicitated the parents of two girls from Likir who excelled in a district-level archery competition and encouraged students and parents to make optimal use of the new equipment. He emphasized the importance of co-curricular activities, responsible technology use, and leveraging the improved infrastructure and qualified teachers in government schools. He also encouraged the villagers of Likir to use the archery equipment.
Councillor Smanla Dorjey raised the issue of transportation challenges faced by students in the 7-km stretched village, requesting a school bus to improve access and boost enrollment. He also proposed an archery training camp for students and villagers to nurture talent and create future opportunities.
DC Leh assured the provision of a school bus in the next plan and instructed the Youth and Sports Officer to explore the feasibility of the training camp.
Chief Planning Officer Tsewang Gyalson delivered an inspiring speech, motivating students to pursue their goals with dedication.
The event highlighted the District Administration’s commitment to supporting education, sports, and community development in Leh.
