DC Nubra Convenes Review Meeting on the Prevention, Control and Awareness of Drug Abuse in Nubra district.
Nubra ,8 june 2026: Deputy Commissioner Nubra, Sh. Mukul Beniwal, IAS, chaired a review meeting on the prevention, control and awareness of drug abuse in the district as part of the UT-wide initiative aimed at curbing substance abuse and promoting a drug-free society.
Stating that prevention is the first step in combating drug abuse, the DC directed all stakeholders to strengthen awareness campaigns, particularly among students, through mentorship programmes and counselling sessions.He also called for the widespread dissemination of anti-drug awareness posters through public spaces and social media platforms.
SP Nubra informed that intensive checking and patrolling are being conducted at North Pullu, Agyam, Panamik and other strategic locations to prevent the smuggling of narcotics through the region. He added that strict action will be taken against those involved in drug trafficking and efforts are underway to recover narcotic substances that already brought into the district.
The DC stressed that there should be no lapse in regulation and urged government officials, religious leaders, community heads and Numberdars to work collectively towards a drug-free society.
The meeting concluded with an appeal for collective action and community participation to ensure the success of the anti-drug initiative.
The meeting was attended by SP Nubra Stanzin losal,JKPS ,SDM Nubra ,Jigmet Raftan,JKAS, Former Deputy CEC, Exn PWD Nubra ,BMO Nubra ,ZEO Nubra, Tehsildars,Principals of schools, Representatives of Religious Organisations,Numbardars, President of Merchant association, Taxi union,Adventure sports association and camel safari association Nubra.
