DC Nubra Reviews Power Supply Scenario Amid Peak Tourist Season in District Nubra.
Nubra, 8 June 2026: Deputy Commissioner Nubra, Mukul Beniwal, IAS, chaired a meeting with officials of the PDD and LREDA to review power supply challenges arising during the peak tourist season, including voltage fluctuations, occasional tripping, and increased power demand in various areas of the District.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner discussed the impact of the seasonal surge in electricity consumption due to the ongoing tourist season and reviewed the challenges posed by increased power demand in various areas of the District.
He emphasized the need to ensure a stable and reliable power supply, with special attention to healthcare facilities and other essential public institutions where uninterrupted electricity is critical for service delivery.
Concluding the meeting, the DC directed the concerned departments to undertake a detailed load study and assess the existing power distribution system to identify areas requiring augmentation. He further instructed officials to conduct load checking of households and establishments exceeding their sanctioned load to ensure effective load management and reduce stress on the power infrastructure during the peak tourist season.
The meeting was attended by SDM Nubra Jigmet Raftan, JKAS, Former Deputy CEC Tsering Angchuk, AEE PDD, Representatives of PDD and LREDA and Nambardar of Diskit and Hunder.
