DC Sankoo Reviews Progress of IT Project SWAM With Focus on Internet Connectivity in Government Offices.
Sankoo, October 28, 2026: The Deputy Commissioner Sankoo Imteeaz Kacho today took a meeting regarding the SWAM project in his office with focus on the installation of internet connectivity infrastructure and the expansion of internet services across government offices in the region. The meeting was attended by the IT Department Officials and SWAN Project team apart from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Sankoo, Tehsildars and Block Development Officers of the District.
The Deputy Commissioner was informed by the IT/SWAN team that the project’s infrastructure has been installed in 193 Gram Panchayats, including 43 Gram Panchayats in the erstwhile Kargil District which also includes Sankoo. It was also agreed that Government offices will be identified for providing internet connectivity under the project.
The Deputy Commissioner directed that SWAn Project should cover offices of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj and Revenue Department mandatorily. He passed instructions for taking necessary action at the earliest.
